Sanctuary Chairs Designed and Created by Harry W. Bain
The two sanctuary chairs, specially commissioned for Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Parish to celebrate 139th anniversary of the opening of their church building, were formally installed by parish deacon, Rev. John Woodside.
The man who designed, crafted and sculpted the beautiful and unique furniture in Scots oak, eminent wood sculptor Harry W. Bain from Aberfeldy, was on hand to ensure safe and timeous delivery to the parish.
The chair design is based on the traditional Scottish Fisherman's chair with symbols of Alpha and Omega carved on the back panels. On the seat, Harry has carved loaves and fishes on one chair, and three entwined salmon (The Diocese of Aberdeen's crest) on the other.
